About the Maine Transplant Program
The Transplant Program at Maine Medical Center is a member of the United Network for Organ Sharing, and offers both deceased and living donor kidney transplant services. It is not a requirement that a potential recipient be a resident of the state of Maine. Detailed information about our program can be found at the website of the Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients, which maintains transplant statistics for the United States. Specific information about our program can be found here.
Pancreas Transplant Program
The Maine Pancreas Transplant Program is currently on hold due to low volume/decreased demand.
The program is exploring options to revitalize pancreas transplantation here in Maine. The goal of renewing our program centers around the recruitment of another transplant surgeon. A final decision about the future of pancreas transplantation in Maine is anticipated May 2013.
Transplant Program Improvement
The Transplant Program at Maine Medical Center (MMC) has been working with The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) on a review of our program. This review is now complete. For more information, click here.
