Lincoln County Healthcare Aquatic Therapy

Lincoln County Healthcare offers aquatic therapy through a partnership with the Boothbay Region YMCA.

Aquatic Therapy  is an exercise program performed in water. The buoyancy and resistance provided by water helps strengthen muscles with less stress on joints. By using a multi-depth pool and warm water, aquatic therapy promotes muscle relaxation, muscle strengthening and increased blood flow to injured areas. Aquatic therapy may be appropriate for the following:

  • pediatric patients
  • patients with orthopedic injuries
  • patients with neurological conditions
  • patients with cardiopulmonary problems

Benefits of an Aquatic Therapy Program may Include:

  • improved flexibility
  • the ability to initiate and complete an exercise program
  • enhanced walking ability and awareness of body movement
  • a lower risk of injury or reinjury during rehabilitation
